The Best Tested Apple 3-in-1 Wireless Chargers (2024) | WIRED

If you have an iPhone, AirPods, and an Apple Watch, congrats! You have the holy trinity of Apple products. But keeping all these gadgets powered up can be annoying, since they all have individual cables and proprietary charging solutions. Why deal with all that hassle when a single 3-in-1 wireless charger can accommodate everything?

Our Best Wireless Chargers guide has a few recommendations, but many more great docking systems exist for Apple devices. After years of testing, these are our favorites. Be sure to read our other Apple guides, including the Best MagSafe Wireless Chargers, Best MagSafe Accessories, Best iPhone 16 Cases, Best iPhone, Best Apple Watch, and Best AirPods.

Updated October 2024: We added chargers by Spigen, Anker, and Zens, including some new honorable mentions and some chargers to avoid, removed a couple of discontinued models, and updated prices.

A Quick Primer on MagSafe

Most of the wireless chargers in this guide are MagSafe wireless chargers or Qi2 certified. That means they take advantage of the magnets embedded in the back of the iPhone 12, iPhone 13, iPhone 14, iPhone 15, and iPhone 16 range. I cannot stress this enough: If you buy a case, ensure it is a MagSafe case. We have several third-party options in the linked case guides above. A normal iPhone case will weaken the pull of the magnets in the device and will not stick to MagSafe accessories well.

What's the point of MagSafe? You don't have to worry about misalignment with the wireless charger, meaning you won't wake up to a dead iPhone. Technically, this perfect alignment means chargers can provide faster 15-watt charging, but Apple has restricted this perk to select products from a few brands. MagSafe is available in the AirPods charging case as well (depending on your model). Apple's AirPods and AirPods Pro with the wireless charging case will work with nearly all of the standard Qi wireless charging pads on these chargers (as will many third-party wireless earbuds), but if you have AirPods with MagSafe, then you can hook it up to the magnetic mounts as well. If you don't have a MagSafe iPhone, then your device won't be able to attach to these chargers, though we do have some recommendations for older iPhones (and the iPhone SE).

What Are StandBy Mode and Nightstand Mode?

You'll see us bring up two specific modes throughout this guide: StandBy mode and Nightstand mode. What are they?

StandBy mode was introduced in iOS 17. When you place your iPhone on a charger in landscape orientation, it will turn the screen into a dock of sorts, showing the clock (with different designs you can choose from), photos from your library, or widgets. If you have an iPhone that supports an always-on screen, you can choose to have the display automatically turn off after some time when the iPhone isn't in use or if the room is dark. Head to Settings > Standby to customize it.

Nightstand mode has long been around on the Apple Watch. Basically, when the watch is sitting upright and charging, the clockface will stay on so you can always tell the time. You can customize this on your Apple Watch by heading to Settings > General > Nightstand mode.

Like its predecessor, this classy chrome charging tree suspends two of your Apple gadgets in midair, with a spot for the AirPods case on the broad circular base. It can recharge your iPhone at the fastest 15-watt charging speed Apple allows, and it can also fast-charge the Apple Watch Series 7 or newer (not the SE). Drop the AirPods Pro (or AirPods with wireless charging case) onto the base, and you'll be topping up all these devices from a single outlet. Aside from the latest Qi2 certification, the base is now more rounded, and the iPhone charging pad tilts to your preferred angle. Everything sits securely in place, and you can even flip your iPhone into landscape orientation to watch a video while it charges or to trigger StandBy mode. The braided USB-C cable is permanently attached.

Apple added a feature in iOS 17 called Standby, which turns the iPhone into a clock on your nightstand with weather information when you put it in landscape orientation on a wireless charger. (The screen dims if you have an iPhone with an always-on display; if not, you can tap the screen to see the time.) Twelve South's 3-in-1 is an elegant wireless charger for the nightstand and gives the iPhone plenty of breathing room to rotate it to landscape mode and take advantage of StandBy. It's Made for iPhone (MFi) certified, so it'll recharge your handset at the fastest 15-watt speed possible. I also like that the iPhone charger can swivel up and down, so you can better position the angle of your phone screen.

On the base is a fast charger for the Apple Watch that you can flip up or charge flat, and the back has a spot for the AirPods or another wireless earbuds case. It's nice and weighty and doesn't slide around easily. It comes with a proprietary and removable charging cable that runs into the base, along with a charging brick, and Twelve South includes international plug adapters for the US, UK, EU, and AU if you want to take it on your travels.

Folks seeking something a little more compact for the nightstand will appreciate this solid aluminum 3-in-1 charging station from Otterbox. It can charge all your Apple gadgets at top speed and comes with a 6.6-foot cable and a 36-watt wall charger. The MagSafe pad holds your iPhone securely, and there is a pad on the weighted base for AirPods. The integrated Apple Watch charger allows for Nightstand mode, but it is the weak link here, and I sometimes find that my Series 8 twists slightly. It doesn’t shift enough to prevent charging, but it could be a problem, especially if you have an Ultra or favor a heavy band for your Apple Watch. If you fancy this, make sure you get the correct version, because Otterbox also offers a cheaper 3-in-1 with a slot for Apple Watch charging around the back, which we don’t recommend.

It's pricey, but this 3-in-1 charging pad from Nomad feels like you have to place it near a Steinway grand piano. If you want your iPhone out of sight and out of mind when you place it on a charger, a pad is the way to go—the MagSafe charger officially supports 15 watts to recharge your iPhone at the fastest speeds possible. The Apple Watch charging puck sticks up, so you can take advantage of Nightstand mode and see the time. However, this is not a fast charger, so your smartwatch won't juice up as quickly. I tried it with a loop band and a normal strap, and I could fit the AirPods Pro in the spot behind the Apple Watch puck to recharge it just fine.

The metal chassis is heavy, and paired with the anti-slip rubber base, this thing stays put. It comes with a 2-meter USB-C to USB-C cable, which is great if you want to plug it into your new iPhone 16 to juice it up faster, but I wish it came with a 30-watt charging adapter. Nomad sells this one that we've tested and like. I do want to point out that since this is a pad, you can still charge non-MagSafe devices wirelessly on it, making it a nice option if you're on an older iPhone.

We also tested and liked the Nomad Stand One Max (3rd Gen) ($150), which supports Qi2 and is cheaper than its predecessor.

My wife has been using a standard Spigen wireless charging stand for years, and it's been super reliable, so I'm quite happy the company now sells a 3-in-1 wireless charger. It's fairly compact—you can top up a wireless earbuds case underneath the iPhone's charging spot, and the Apple Watch charger is off to the right. It's easy to rotate the iPhone into Standby mode, and it hides the Apple Watch, in case you don't want two clocks staring at you. What makes this charger special is that it has an additional magnetic ring right behind the iPhone's charging dock, and this lets you store MagSafe accessories you may be carrying around with your device, like a MagSafe wallet or tripod. (It will not charge MagSafe accessories.) That's super handy because too often I forget where my MagSafe accessories are and don't end up using them. Now I have a place to store 'em.

By far the cheapest Qi2-certified 3-in-1 charger I've come across, I was surprised by how much I liked this ESR charger. The magnetic iPhone pad is secure and charges at 15 watts, the design is compact, and it comes with a charging brick and cable. The Apple Watch charger is a separate unit that slots into the back. That means you can take it with you (it simply needs a USB-A port to plug into), though I instantly lost the cap. This charger also works for StandBy mode or watching video in landscape orientation.

Space is often limited when you travel, so the fact that Anker's MagGo 3-in-1 folds down to a very compact form is handy. Despite the small size, it packs plenty of power, charging your iPhone or Qi2-certified phone at up to 15 watts on a magnetic pad that can adjust to your preferred angle. A second pad behind the main pad charges AirPods or other wireless earbuds, and there is a fold-out Apple Watch charger.

If you are really pressed for space, this is the smallest 3-in-1 charger you can get. It folds up neatly to resemble a macaron and is easy to stow, but this is not a power bank, and you do still need a cable and wall charger (both supplied). Unfolded, you get a magnetic pad to charge your iPhone at up to 15 watts (this is Qi2 certified), a middle pad for your AirPods, and an Apple Watch charger on the right. The design is lovely to handle and has a soft-touch finish with a durable silicone strap. I still prefer the option above because it allows you to angle your iPhone and use StandBy mode, but the MagGo UFO allows you to travel as light as possible.

A classy mix of vegan leather and aluminum elevates this folding 3-in-1 charger. It is Qi2 certified, so it can deliver 15 watts to your iPhone, and there’s a fold-out Apple Watch charger on the back to fast-charge Apple Watch 7 and above. It feels sturdy and secure, allows you to fix your preferred angle, and supports StandBy mode. It's relatively compact and looks good enough to be your permanent bedside charger. Not only does the whole thing fold flat, but it also comes with UK and EU adapters for the included power brick for your travels.

Maybe you charge your iPhone at a standing desk. Or perhaps you want a more versatile charger. Enter Mophie's extendable wireless charging stand. The 15-watt iPhone charger sits atop a telescoping pole that can extend from 7.5 to 16 inches, and that means it doubles as a tripod of sorts—handy if you want to film a quick video or more comfortably take video calls. There's some flex in the charging pad too, so you can tilt it slightly up or down. You have to twist the pole slightly and then pull on it to extend, and while it's not the smoothest experience, it does the job and stays put.

Attached to the bottom section of the pole is the Apple Watch charger, which supports fast charging. You can pop a pair of wireless earbuds, AirPods or otherwise, on the charging cradle on the metal base. Mophie includes a proprietary charger but it's removable.

Don't have an Apple Watch? No problem. This elegant 2-in-1 stand can recharge your iPhone and AirPods (or other wireless earbuds with wireless charging support). It comes in black or white with a metal post that connects the weighted base to the MagSafe charger. It can fast-charge your iPhone and hold it in portrait or landscape orientation (great for StandBy). It is easy to grab my iPhone 14 Pro off this stand one-handed without tipping it over. There’s a circular indent at the front for charging your AirPods. The included power adapter plugs into the base via a barrel port.

With a weighty base, an adjustable Qi2/MagSafe charging pad, and a fold-out Apple Watch charger around the back, this Zens 2-in-1 is ideal for folks with an iPhone and Apple Watch. The Apple Watch pad folds out of the back, tucking your watch out of sight and allowing room for the strap to droop. The pad works great with StandBy mode. You can also fold the pad flat and charge AirPods or other phones if you need to, just not at the same time as your iPhone. Sadly, this has a barrel port for the provided cable and charger (USB-C would be better), the Apple Watch charger can be a little stiff and tricky to fold out, and it’s pricey, but I love the quality look and feel.

15-watt charging, 5-foot cable, 20-watt wall charger included, three-year warranty.

If you own an iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods, there is a decent chance you might have an iPad too, so why not a 4-in-1 charging station? Zens offers a modular design, with a main stand for your iPad, a MagSafe pad in front to float your iPhone, and a slight indentation to charge AirPods below. The Apple Watch charger is a separate section that attaches magnetically (on either side) and holds your Watch in horizontal Nightstand mode, which looks slightly better than vertical. It feels durable with a grippy, rubbery, flecked black finish made from recycled plastic.

You get a 65-watt power adapter, power cable, and adapter plugs for the US, UK, and EU, which is quite handy. The main drawback with this is the large size, and you have to connect a cable to the USB-C port on the side to charge your iPad.

Combining Nappa leather with aluminum and glass, this 3-in-1 charger folds neatly away and looks very stylish. The circular MagSafe iPhone charging pad goes up to 15 watts, and there’s a central pad for AirPods or a second phone. You can charge your Apple Watch flat or pop the charger up for Nightstand mode. You can also fold it into a wedge shape to charge your iPhone in StandBy mode with your Apple Watch on the back. You get a USB-C cable in the box, but you'll need your own wall charger.

15-watt charging, 3.3-foot cable, wall charger not included, one-year warranty.

Part of Anker’s new Qi2-certified MagGo range, this versatile 3-in-1 wireless charging station has a 15-watt MagSafe pad, a 5-watt pad for AirPods in the middle, and a 5-watt Apple Watch charger. The iPhone pad can fold up and be angled, so you can have your iPhone lying flat or propped up in portrait or landscape orientation for StandBy mode. The Apple Watch puck can also pop up for Nightstand mode, or you can lay it flat. The cable and wall charger are included, but there’s no carry pouch. While you can fold it flat, there are more compact options for travel (see above). Top charging speeds are only for Qi2-certified phones or MagSafe iPhones, but I had no trouble charging an iPhone X and a Pixel 8 with it folded flat. This is a good pick if you have an older iPhone, or Android phones in the household you also want to charge.

What if you have an iPhone and AirPods, but prefer a Fitbit to the Apple Watch? This 3-in-1 from Wasserstein has you covered. There are Lightning or USB-C plugs to slot your AirPods and iPhone onto plus a built-in charger for your Fitbit on a small extended platform. The iPhone and Fitbit are both angled for easy glancing (though you are stuck with a portrait view for the iPhone). I worry slightly about wear and tear on the ports here—be careful when sliding your devices on or off—but the advantage is that you get wired charging speeds. Just make sure you get the correct version. For the iPhone 15 or 16, you’ll want the USB-C station.
